Been quite busy of late…. I’ve managed to secure another contract, started on Monday. It’s back in the financial services sector which is a little more suited to my background. Other really cool benefits are that it’s about 20 minutes away from work and the hours are better. I end up gaining about 1 ½ to 2 hours of free time every day and it is amazing how much of a difference that makes to my general well being! Oh, and more money, but that’s neither here nor there.
Haven’t been blogging for a while, I’ve got quite a few things to brain-dump, so here goes: Had a massive gathering at our place 2 weekends ago to celebrate Beefcake and my girlfriend’s birthdays, as they’re about a week apart from each other. Had about 25+ people over, did the whole braai thing again. Afterwards, we all hit the clubs down in Leicester square, had a really nice night out. Drank way past my limit though, so much so that I had blank spots the next day (which NEVER happens).
Took my girlfriend out for dinner last Friday, to celebrate her real birthday (the 2nd of June) Didn’t go big, just went to a spectacularly overpriced Sushi restaurant, went for a drink or two and came home. Booked us in at the Spa at the Chancery Court Hotel for a full Aroma Therapy body massage and facials on Saturday. Spent the rest of the day in the park reading and lounging in, it was like 24 degrees out, blue skies, sunny. Rounded it off with a nice afternoon nap. Now that’s my idea of a relaxing day!!
Went to go check out Bodies: the Exhibition on Sunday. WoW! I can quite honestly say that I have never seen anything that even comes close to it and I would highly highly recommend that you go see it if you have the chance. Once you get over the fact that you are, in fact, looking at a dissected dead person, you really start to take in how insanely complicated the human body is and how much you could still learn. How everything meshes together to perform even the most basic of functions, let alone fly a plane, drive a car or play volleyball. And true to their word, all the exhibits are tastefully done. They all look so proud to be on display (every one of them donated their bodies to science, btw).
I’m a bit lost for words on this still, but it the whole experience affected me quite a bit, on more than just a physical level. Made me feel good to be alive. :)
And finally, going to check out Prime Circle tomorrow evening. I need my live music fix!! Really miss the boys and groupies back home… :/
Till next time.
