One thing I’ve been noticing lately is that I keep waking up about 2-3 hours before my alarm. At that moment, I actually feel like I’ve slept enough and could easily rise and begin my day, but choose to tuck in and go back to sleep. I would wake up again and again, in half hour intervals and then still manage to blow out my snooze button. I wonder if this is a side effect of this whole detox thing? I can’t say I feel more energetic, but I don’t feel lethargic either. It’s weird, but I’m kind of in limbo, like a Calvin Klein ad. I’m just… there. Just “be”.
Anyways, chugged down a glass of warm lemon juice water, I kind of getting used to the taste now. I imagine it’s a very exotic herbal tea or something, since it’s likely the only time you’d drink something this vile and pretend to like it is when you’re trying to be cultured and pretend to enjoy exotic teas.
I was reminded a bit too late that for today, we are only to eat apples. Having scoffed down a banana, a handful of black berries and strawberries already, I guess I’ll have to do that tomorrow instead. The idea with the apples is that it flushes your digestive system, which is good, I guess.
On a side note, I think I may have found my “why” for this journey. You know, the “why the hell are you doing it?” For most folks this system is for weight loss and of course, being the lean bad-ass athlete I already am, I hardly qualify. But Annelie mentioned something that I thought made an excellent why for me: detoxing, if done right, is the only way to rid you of any residual metals and toxins from chemotherapy. It was 5 years ago though, but who knows what’s still sloshing away in there?
Carrot salad for lunch today… but with a twist! I added a whole red chilli, which I sliced up in bits and ate along with the rest. Knocked my socks off, but it’s good to have some flavour with the food for a change. Good thing chilli’s is on the approved foods list, I think I may add it to more things.
The evening meal of chicken kebabs was really nice, added some garlic mushrooms to it. Overall, I’d give it a 7, just because it could use have more spices (just a tad). The grilled peppers semi made up for it.
I found out today that next weeks menu doesn’t have meat on it AT ALL!!
