Oi oi.
It’s been a while, so let’s recap:
Last week started just like any other. Me and my girl, having partied for 4 days, non stop, where feeling equally dreadful and quite tired of each others hung over states of being. Dropped her off at home, got back to my place and started with my week planning.
And then it hit me: Fever.
And not the Saturday night flavor. I’m talking full blown, undiluted fever. I was feeling shit the whole day though but I chalked it to the severe and unrelenting punishment my liver and lungs had to endure for 4 days straight. Turns out I picked up the cute little stomach bug that’s doing the rounds. Now every year you get to hear all about some “bug” going round and how people are getting sick etc. I can vouch that in 2005, it’s on. And it’s nasty!!
Imagine having a fever for 19 hours straight, with a dash of nausea, diarrhea and stomach spasms for flavor. Imagine having fever so intense that you actually start hallucinating (no joke!!). Imagine NOTHING you do helps, not taking cold showers, not bathing in a bath full of ice (which melt after about 10 minutes). Now imagine having all of that in 35 degree (Celsius now) weather. Yeah, I was in a world of hurt.
Between my sobs of agony, I actually laughed at all the shit that was running through my head! I considered doing a blog right there and then but getting bodily fluids all over my keyboard seemed like a bad idea at the time.
I finally managed to crawl out of my apartment and get some of the good shit from my chemist (the registered one). Still felt like a lump of useless bellybutton lint for about 3 days after. G’s free tip of the day: stock up on them vitamins.
Had an absolute bender of a weekend at Clanwilliam (a little town in the middle of nowhere, about 2 hours drive from here). My girl’s friend is leaving for London this Wednesday, so it was a kind of going away thing. The main feature of said town is this massive dam so water sports would be the theme of such a trip. There ain’t much else to do, save for sweat your tits off in 40 degree (no no, Celsius again) blistering heat.
Oh, and drinking. A lot.
Got a kick ass sunburn to show for it and learnt how to ski to boot. I am truly a god amongst men.
The business plans are really picking up steam and today when we had a little “where we at” meeting we had to make our first REAL tough call. Kinda got my spirits down because everything was going so really well (seemingly) but I was prepared for it. I’ve long since made peace with the fact that we won’t get everything right, even though we really think we’ll nail it first time. As I said today, it’s a given that we’ll lose money initially. The real challenge is making the right decisions and playing out the sequence of events correctly to try and limit the time it will take to make some money back.
I know that sounds obvious but trust me, if we play one card out of time, it could sink us there and then. Getting the numbers and fore castings right is also a fucking bitch!! Sigh…

Hiked up Lions Head this evening, it being full moon and all. Man it was beautiful!!! It’s the penultimate leg of the “Stuff you’re gonna miss about South Africa” tour we’ve been doing with my Girl’s friend. I’ve never seen the moon so beautiful and the way it highlighted the foreshore… just absolutely breathtaking. Note to self: I live in paradise.
Came down the mountain hungry like a mother fucker, so we hit the buffet at Pappa Lukes (ala Mexican). And now, just chilling and waiting for all that chilli to bring on the pain. Nice.
That’s all I got for now. Not sure what this week still holds. I have a few good meetings lined up with regards to some Corporate Identity and Website design etc. I just want to try and be as industrious as I possibly can and hopefully the rest of the world can fit in with that.
[G], out.
