First up, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to You, little Blog! Didn’t think I’d get quite into Blogging like I did. I don’t need to say that people blog for various reasons. For me, it’s always been like a dairy. I’ve always wanted to keep track of my thoughts and feelings, events and so on, but keeping a diary always felt a little, well, gay.
So for me, I’ve never really cared who reads my blog, or even IF anybody reads it. It’s an outlet for all the chaos in my head, it’s about legacy and growth and chronicling events and memories as I remember them.
On that note…
I had another one of those weird trains of thought today, the theme mostly concerned around whether or not I’m crazy.
To answer that question, I guess one has to have some baseline to work from, and as we all know, everybody is somebody else’s freak. (Einstein said that. And I respect anybody with hair like that.)
So in lieu of a base line, here are my observations:
Spurts of Inner monologue
I talk to myself all the time. This is nothing new for most folks, I’m sure a lot of (crazy) people do. My problem is that I often have complete conversations with someone in my head, often playing a scenario through tons of variations. This, even though a bit excessive, is still not the issue. The issue is that I vocalise these conversations. Not really talking, just whispering audibly. I have had my girlfriend ask me plenty of times “who are you talking to?” and at that moment I snap back to reality with a “huh, I wasn’t talking, you crazy bitch”.
I hum the Star Wars Death March. Often.
Nothing says “who tha fucking man!?” quite like it! I don’t know why I do it, but it does wonders for the ego. I mean, how bad ass is it to have your own theme song? And NOBODY wants to fuck with the Dark Lord of the Sith, right?! Just add heavy breathing.
I have a Blog
This requires no clarification.
Music, everywhere.
I ALWAYS have music in my head (when the voices are out to lunch). Always. iPod aint got nutthin’ on this shit. I wish I had better control over it though, because most of the time the play list is on random shuffle. For instance, I’d jump from some arb Pop tune I heard on the radio this morning, to Mozart, right onto some catchy in-game theme song, only to cross fade that Jam into some fucking Nursery rhyme! I honestly surprise myself with all the junk up there, I’d hum music from when I was in primary school, or from a waaaay younger age, and I’d have absolutely no idea why. I sing bits of them at random too (see above: Spurts of Inner Monologue. Just with music).
I dance. alot.
Due to the music in my head. I think being Hyper active really helps, but I can’t sit still. My mom used to pinch the crap outta me in church and sitting in a cinema or theatre earns me similar smack downs. Anyhoo, yeah, shaking ass. All the time.
That’s about all I got right now, though I’m sure it’s enough.
Digressing just a tad, I’ve had an awesome “Live Music” week thus far! On Tuesday I checked out the Caroline Coon (who tried their utmost to be Kurt Cobain) and the Shy Guevaras (who made me cream my pants with delight.) Honestly, these fellas have it going on! Even my friend from the UK (who is a manager / agent for Drum and Bass Dj’s) thought that they should get their shit together get some radio time sorted out. She (like me) was quite blown away by their stage chemistry, good tunes and even better lyrics. Some of that shit was deep man!
Checked out The Jesse Jordan band at Vacca Matta last night, another great SA Band! I didn’t realise that some of their music have made it to mainstream radio and was amongst the shit I hum on regular occasions. It’s always cool when the penny drops that the guys you’re watching are “those guys on radio that sing that tune” and shit. The lead singer is very amusing to watch, once he gets going and got quite a few laughs.
One day when I’m big and got the whole “Project World Domination” thing out of the way, I would love to organise a party for a bunch of mates and these bands together for a jam session.
And on Sunday, I’ll be on a plane off to the Comores! Fucking A man, I am getting more and more excited by the minute! Check this shit out man: http://www.lagalawa.com/ Just the diving thing alone is making this trip worthwhile. I promise to take lots of pictures.
