Kinda like Chaos Math, only slighty more precise. You see, how it works is this: The bus you need to catch to work / tube station will arrive almost exactly at the precise time, give or take, when you are NOT at the bus stop. To extrapolate: you can see the bus (it just drove by you) you can see the bus stop (it's 50 meters away) but you know that you'll never make it and have to wait for the next one (which is usually in about 8 mins time). FUCK. "So why not run, you lazy prick?", I hear you say. So let's get that out of the way:
Number 1: I'm in London. I'm wearing a suit and anybody whose anybody knows that "a Gentleman never runs".
Number 2: London is ALL about image (So I've been told, personally the jury is still out). What you have, how much you have of it, how you look, where you're from... you get the idea. Running to catch a bleedin' (I said "Bleedin'") bus does nothing in the self-promotion
Number 3: Lest we forget, I'm a fucking Techie!! Techie's NEVER run (unless in the event that the Datacentre / XBOX 360 / iPod is on fire and / or equavilant
technological disaster).
Number 4: erm, Im lazy. And shit. And I might drop my iPod...
Point is, I can't help going Gwenyth Paltrow on the situation and wondering how my life would have been different had I not taken one minute longer brushing my teeth, or looking for my keys and so on.
Work has been fantastic. I'm learning a few new tricks (go figure) and helping out where I can. The whole contarcting gig is quite contrived, in that I am actually working for the tech outsource company for the company I'm working at (i.e. sitting in the building, at a desk at), who in turn is contracting the job agency (who placed me), who in turn has to pay 1st Contact (my umbrella
company where I have my ltd company) who in turn pays me.
Confusing? Aye.
All I know is I fill out no less than THREE time sheets, and money gets spit out the other side. So who cares? I'm just concerned over whether or not I'm getting screwed somewhere along the way. I know 1st contact takes a cut for their services but I just gotta make sure nobody else is getting their filthy mitts into this pie as well (girlfriend excluded).
Braai thingy got rained out. That's kind of to be expected, I know. Bummer, cus Saturday was picture perfect! We still had a good time though. I ended up cooking for 8 people in the kitchen (which is more like a broom closet, actually.) Good wine, good food, good people. I'd say it as a success. :)
Gonna try and organise some paintball action this good Friday, it being a public (oops, sorry, "Bank" holiday) an all. I'll have to see how that fits in with project Wolverine though. I suspect she will take the lions share of me time, me thinks. Aaaahrrrrr!
