Getting things done

Posted by G-force

The recent week has been on the busy side. I’ve stuck, for the most part, to my new schedule. I have done my utmost not to get home and just sit in front of my PC or TV. Instead, I’ve spent time doing dome much wanted DIYing, going to the gym, working on my suppleness (stretching etc, I’m the least flexible person I know) and spend time studying for our Living in the UK test. I even picked up the guitar… once. And not to just move it from one room to the next! I actually… played it!

The last few weekends were busy. Apart from working from home, we had two parties to attend, one 30th and one going away. In between this mix I also had to ensure, as a favour to a friend, that a lone sole arriving at Stansted airport at 17:00 has a place to sleep on Saturday night. It all went smoothly, surprisingly so. I paid for it on Sunday though, having come in at 05:00 in the morning and up again at 09:00. More work, followed by a tour down to Brentwood where said guest will stay in aforementioned friends flat. In fact, the same flat we lived in when we arrived back in London.

I rewarded myself handsomely with a tub of caramel crispys and a pack of (very bad for you) all-butter chocolate chip cookies, and vegged on my very, very comfy sofa.

This week we took a friend out to a little meal at our favourite Mexican joint, Café Pacifico in Covent Garden. Ended up going to sleep at 03:00!! On a school night as well. But it was totally worth it :)

This weekend I’m looking forward to a one-night only visit! Paul, life-long buddy and all round good guy is coming to stay tonight and I’m hoping to make the best of it. Wanna go show him a few worthwhile sites before ducking into a pub for some drink. Should be a good night.

My lovely wife has been very busy nailing down the celebration details for my up and coming 30th birthday. I’m looking at organising some food and drink for 6th of February, which will free me up to do more depraved partying on the 14th proper (my REAL birthday).

Gosh. 30…

Anyways, other activities include a few photo gigs here and there and getting everyone psyched for summer and subsequent camping. No mean feat and a noble cause I may add, since it’s nearing the depth of winter here. We’ve seen some spectacular snow storms for a few weeks non stop. Britain just grinds to a halt during this kind of beating. I can’t complain, it was great to work from home!

Mass Effect 2 has been released today (woohoo!) but I fear I won’t get to play it anytime soon. I really enjoyed the 1st one, the story arc is epic. I already prepped Annelie for it; she knows I’m going to have my head stuck in that universe for the next few weeks. I’ll try to keep up with the resolutions as best I can though; I’ll make playing games a reward for good effort.

Speaking of my lovely wife, she has been going non stop, exploring new business avenues and applications for her new kung-fu. I think it’s going well, the cash just isn’t there as of yet. But in benchmarking January, I would say that she has covered a lot of ground. I’m holding out that we’ll see some good results in February.

[G], out
