kicking it old skool

well, as they say, there are firsts for everything.

First kiss, first drinking experience, first time you take the car out with your buddies after you got your license. And then there's the first time you get retrenched. (made redundant, ask to leave your tag at the door, went all Donald Trump on your ass)

That's right, as of mid december I will no longer be in gainfull employ. Don't really wanna go into details, 'cept that it wasn't anything I did (or didn't do, for that matter). Also don't care to mention what the decision process was. It is what it is.

All this went down last Wednesday, having built up since Monday. It's all good, cus I was gonna bail anyways for the UK. It doesn't exactly fit in with the timelines I set forth for the UK thing, but that's cool too. I'm getting a helluva deal being laid off rather than resigning, so I really really can't complain.

It's funny cus in the "information pack" they gave us they have the business case laid out and the decision process documented, really crossing the "t's" and dotting the "i's", but near the end they have this whole thing on how hard this can be emotionally and shit and shit. So they setup this toll free number you can phone just in case you feel like slitting your wrists or whatever the fuck. They also have this "do it yourself" counsiling part which details all the "phases" you through, that being "Shock, denial, anger, depression, acceptance" and how you "can steer clear of the dangers of Substance abuse". HEH HEH HEH, funny shit. Why would I wanna do a thing like that?! :)

So I did a lot of "Anger" and "Substance Abuse" over the course of the last few days. The weekend (being no exception) was especially rough, especially after S.A. lost so dismally against the World Champs (that's England, you putz!). I thought I'd show some solidarity with the rest of my country and get all messed up after such a pitifull performance. In a jacuzzi. Naked.
