Chris Rock had it right

Posted by G-force

I have discovered my nemesis, the proverbial Kryptonite to my mad super-human-esq levels of resistance: Krispy Kreme donuts

My Lord, this shit is tasty!! Chris rock does quite a good skit on these in his second HBO special. They really should be called “Cracky-Kremes”. Can’t be good for you in the long run and flashes of the dreaded Heathrow-Injection come to mind (referring to the process where everybody coming to London seems to put on 15 pounds or more). So far I’ve been avoided that fate, I finally joined the gym last month and have been paying regular visits to the pit of pain. Doing a lot of Core and lower body strengthening under Beefcake’s strict guidance. So far so good, I already feel stronger and more stable. One more thing I can tick off my new years’ resolutions list. Other than the core training, my Girlfriend has been stretching me after each session. And not in the fun “hey-honey-wanna-try-page-78-tonight” kinda way, more like the “oh-my-god-I-can-see-my-spleen” type of fun. I can thank a decade of bad posture and vegetative state rooted in front of a PC monitor for the total lack of flexibility I now suffer from.

Went for my checkups yesterday, so far so good, waiting for the blood works and X-rays, but as far as I’m concerned it should be a non event.

Did ABSOLUTELY nothing last weekend and it was fantastic. Honestly, with all the action that London can provide, sometimes the best remedy is to just chill at home and relax. Been having some awesome weather of late, heat waves upon heat waves. Clocked 36 degrees yesterday, which was almost the new record for London. Roads melted and shit, so it’s pretty harsh. Been taking the opportunity to have as many braais as possible and getting to know the neighbours on the kick ass roof terrace.

Oh, and that music fest we went to about 2 weeks ago was pretty awesome! Got all kitted up on the Friday, my only 2 perrogatives where that we pack super light and be mobile. With those 2 goals achieved, we heading out to Paddington station to catch an overland about an hour and a bit out of London, to the very green “suburbs”, I guess you can call them. Met up with a friend of a friend and headed out the site.

It was more like your classic Country Fayre, with do-cee-do-ing and the whole caboodle, mixed with a carnivale atmosphere, lots of beer and live bands and music. Oh, and camping. Check it out here if you’re bored: http://www.shalbournefayre.co.uk/beer05.htm .

Looks tres-porno, I know. The webmasters of this site haven’t upgraded off Frontpage 98 or some shit, but it should give you a rough idea. It was very very nice getting outta London and seeing the much over-hyped Green countryside. Lemme tell you, I’ve never seen so many shades of green in my life!! Kirstenbosch kind of touches on it, but this is sheer untamed country in most areas, wide wide open spaces. Imagine the Transvaal or Karoo, only lush green EVERYWHERE with hills and forests etc. Major change of scenery from London. Anyways, good drinking, great people and a touch of something different and wacky made it quite a memorable weekend.

This weekend I’m gonna be heading out to Farnborough for the air show there, should be pretty awesome. And then, it’s the British motor show, like I’ve mentioned before.

So watch this space for some pics of said weirdness of weekend away and more on the air show as soon as I have it (or could muster up enough time away from the 25 things I’m doing at once to type up a blog).
