So the Seether concert happened, I finally DID get a press pass. The management of the venue was quite draconian though, and I could only take pictures during the 1st 3 songs. Which is damn hard to do, since none of the lights even came on till about halfway through the 1st song!! I managed to wrangle a few publishable pictures though, along with the obligatory crowd shots, so all good.
My U.K bachelor’s party was about 2 weeks ago. It was quite a laugh, although I wish my best man could have actually invited the people I put on the list! So half the folks who weren’t invited think me a tool for it. Not cool.
Tell you what else was not cool, the bird-flu I picked up on the Saturday, which lasted for a whole week! I still have this stupid little cough. I’ve not been that ill in 10 years, let alone in bed for a whole week. Not even with the whole cancer thing did I take that much strain. Cold sweats, delirious dreams, non stop coughing, the whole works. Picked a good week for it, I guess, since the UK saw some of the biggest snowfall in years. Our balcony was covered in the stuff. I did snap a few half-hearted pics from the bedroom window. But I was coughing up bits of lung at the time, so I guess I couldn’t really appreciate it as much as I should have.
It’s weird though, the British. They can’t handle heat, wet or cold! Everything breaks down, transport is non existent, people fall over or drown, they’re so fucking useless. And in summer, you have the “gas chambers” (otherwise known as London Underground). Fun.
Also dealing with some family BS at the moment, which is not ideal so close to the wedding. I’m hoping everyone will remain as civil as possible. I just wish people would get over themselves sometimes, I kind of try my utmost to see the best in people. But my goodness, it’s hard sometimes.
So I’m kind of stoked that we’re flying home in less than 2 weeks, and I’m kind of “whatever”. I’m going to try and break out of this frame of mind.
On a positive note, it’s been about a month and a bit now and I’m getting the hang of playing the guitar. I’m practising Hootie and the Blowfish’s “Let her cry”. And I’m quite happy with my progress, and still having fun with it.
I’m also doing another photo gig tomorrow night, a 1920’s themed Valentine’s ball. Should be a laugh. Oh, and of course my birthday is coming up, so that’s a good thing, right?
Twenty-nine. Weird concept.
