Monday again. I am actually now at a stage where I kind of look forward to the start of the week, simply because it means I get to chill out! All the weekend activity is self inflicted though and I've analysed that I may be suffering from Fear of Missing Out syndrome. I'm sure this is perfectly normal for most. My heightened susceptibility to this condition has been amplified I think, due to this "running out of time" feeling. We have about one month and 2 days left before we fly out for our
One could argue that every day should be lived like I've been living my weekends, which is to paraphrase "balls to the wall". Just like every day should be appreciation day and so on. But man, I think I may be getting old.
So, this weekend I was out for a few birthday drinks, which will always spawn into more drinks and even more drinks. Which made Saturday a bit of a strain: I had a photo gig at an amazing venue in
It’s a drive sponsored by FNB to promote
The main focus of the event was on entrepreneurship and why now more than ever was a good time to start up your own business in SA. They of course provide resources and information to assist you in this, but everything comes with fair warning: its hard work!
The speakers included the CEO FirstRand Group Paul Harris, Director of the Gordon Institute of Business Sciences Nick Binnedel and my favourite of the day Kevin Vermaak, Founder of the Cape Epic (yeah, the mountain bike race). It's was humbling to hear these guys speak and I had to constantly remind myself that I was there to do a job! :)
The most stressful bit of the day would have had to be when I had to organise the group shot. No pressure, only, you know, DONT FUCK IT UP. And these guys are very much accustomed to having their pictures taken.
After the gig I went for one more "just one drink" and ended up passed out in someone else's house... again. Which was not ideal, because I was shooting a house full of models on the Sunday. It was for a friend of a friend who happens to be a make-up artist... with hot and willing friends. She wanted a few shots for her portfolio and I gladly obliged. So Sunday was another full and photo filled day.
I now have in the can:
- 1 x wedding (from last weekend)
- 1 x portfolio shots for actor
- 1 x Homecoming Revolution gig
- 1 x Super-Sexy-Fun-Time models wearing make-up
Non of which I have delivered to the clients!
So. I should stop blogging and get my ass in the dark room (well, Photoshop. But I light a little red light outside the door anyway. Cus I'm cool like dat.)
[G], out
why do we always send the poor?
