I’ve spent the better half of the weekend packing. The first order of business was ridding myself of all the accumulated knick-knacks I thought may come in handy some day. I doubt that day will come before the 13th, so away they go.
I had fun taking my media centre apart and wrapping everything in bubbles. Got a bit nostalgic through out the whole process, but then what kind of person would you be if you didn’t? An unsentimental one, I guess. I’m not that guy. I’ll miss you, Grade-A HDMI cable! And you, my trusted Xbox controller. I’ve loved you the most!
Other highlights include a birthday party, fantastic weather (mostly enjoyed indoors… packing…) and I got to feed a baby! Not from the teat, my nipples are way too sensitive for that. But man, have I ever felt THAT uncomfortable!? Photos where taken and the consternation and abject fear was totally apparent. Too many moving parts. Just like squirrels. I think he likes me though; we shared a moment, while I was burping him, and he was coughing fluid all over me. Baby spew… good times.
So it’s almost my last week here at work. I’m scrambling to try and grab as much of my personal documents as I can. I’ve been building a sort of Intellectual Time Capsule (Patent Pending) filled with best practice docs, useful templates I’ve created, SQL scripts, mimes, memes, strips of bacon and other useful pieces of magic. Doesn’t seem complete yet though. Needs more cowbell.
It’s the wife’s birthday tomorrow! Always a tough cookie to buy something for, especially now that we are explicitly tying to get rid of as many things as possible. I'm ebaying the DS Lite I bought her 2 xmasesess ago, since I discovered it holding up a table while clearing out the room. So tech is totally lost on her. And she hates flowers. And chocolates make her fat (what?! I'm married now, I get to say shit like that). May just do a dinner thing with friends. She likes food. I like food. It’s a win-win. But only if she has a salad.
